July News

July brings the following events: workshops for NTA officers, applying for ABC funds for the November school board election, and a new school opening in north Natomas (H. Allen Hight K-5) with over 400 students so far.
At the school board meeting, the community day school was delayed for further planning with several members of the community offering to help partner with the district to problem-solve the juvenile crime issues in Natomas.
School has begun at Two Rivers, Witter and Natomas Park Elementary schools. For the rest of the schools, first day for students will be Monday, August 11th. Have a great rest of your summer!

Again, you censor a response to your post. Amazing.

Reducing the number of days for the school year will reduce transportation costs and energy costs.

Members were not notified - nor had the chance to vote on - a school year that included three weeks off at Christmas and two weeks off for Easter.

You are burying yourself here with your self-indulgence. You will soon be seeing some communication via the district email. You slammed the door on the wrong person, I'm sorry to say.

About every two years, NTA members place their vote on the contract which includes salary, benefits, and calendar, as well as other items. Frequent bargaining updates are published to the membership as to the progress, and elected site reps are given information for the teachers at their sites. Our superintendent loves research studies that prove a hypothesis, so my suggestion is that you could gather the information on energy and transportation costs and schools to present to the superintendent and school board. Please do keep in close contact with NTA officers and site reps, who are well informed about NUSD politics.

Huh? First of all, the comment above was made under another post/issue and after two other comments that were censored by you (whomever you are making comments on behalf of the board). So you've not only pasted my comment out of context - which won't make sense to anyone - you've added another response that speaks only to process, not representation.

I don't need any study to prove less school days equal less costs in transportation and energy. That is just one self-evident reason why the the school year should be reduced. The other reason is also a self-evident truth... members did not vote on three weeks off for Christmas and two weeks off for Easter.

Politics also do not equal representation.

All members were given the opportunity to vote on the contract - you may have voted as many other secondary people like myself and you - no on the holiday breaks. However, as we mentioned above, elementary outnumbers secondary, snd many more members (coming off year round) do prefer the longer breaks.
